Bollywood Celebrity Gossip
I think science fiction and animation are genres that will witness a great thrust in Bollywood in the coming decade. Serious attempts are already being made in these and more and more people will look to exploit these genres that are still relatively untapped as compared to the West. They have major potential for growth and are something to watch out for. There's also a debate whether Bollywood would move out of Mumbai as there are space constraints in building studios with technology and infrastructure that matches the West. But I honestly don't see that happening in the near future. Mumbai is home to Bollywood and it will always remain so. I think we have great studios in Mumbai already and though there are constraints in terms of space and property rates, we are doing a good job. Our studios are well equipped, but our films don't have the kind of budgets that Hollywood films work with, so I guess what we have is enough for now.
The corporatisation of the film industry has been quite a boon as things have become very streamlined. Things happen on time and there's great professionalism in the industry. I feel the industry has changed a lot and for the better since the time I joined Bollywood.
With corporates in full swing, people engaged in various quarters of the industry have gained a lot. Stars as well as the production houses have had a great ride during the economic boom. People are debating whether stars have to charge less now as there's recession, I would say that there are good times and bad times and we will see this through.
