Akshay Kumar recently risked his life by jumping

Akshay Kumar's Dangerous Stunt in His New Movie Tasveer

Akshay Kumar recently risked his life by jumping off a cliff at a height of 150-160 feet (which is about 20 storeys of a high rise) into a freezing water body on a day that recorded a temperature of around -20 degree centigrade for his forthcoming film 8X10 Tasveer. The actor risks his life once more in a deadly stunt for Nagesh Kukunoor's movie.

Akki plays a character ofIndian originwho becomes a forest ranger in Canada in the Nagesh Kukunoor movie, an action thriller which also has Ayesha Takia, Vinod Khanna and Sharmila Tagore.

Nagesh says: "Akshay is unbelievably daring. He told us that he will do only one shot as the conditions where we were shooting were extreme. It was freezing in South Africa and we had to shoot a scene that had Akshay run fast towards the edge of a cliff and take a jump into a water body. Due to the chilly weather conditions, the water was freezing too."

He adds: "It was a high difficulty level scene and generally stunt men do such shots but Akshay wanted to do it. The scene needed to look real and Akshay after consulting with the action director Shyam Kaushal just went for it. From 150 feet it was an extremely high risk venture but believe me Akshay did it in one shot. I have never seen a man so composed while doing such a breathtakingly difficult and risky shot. He knew what he was doing, gave the perfect expressions, landed exactly where he had to and the shot has become one of the best things in the film. It will be a talking point."

Shailendra Singh, head honcho of Percept Picture Company, the producers of the film adds: "Akshay doing action is so up his alley that he makes the most difficult shots look so easy. Akshay returns to action in a big way with this film and his doing his own stunts has given the film that edgy feel."

Shahrukh Khan Home Attacked with Flaming Bottles

Indian Stars News

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan said on Friday (Feb 13) he was worried for the safety of his wife and two children after his house Mannat was attacked by unknown people who had apparently misinterpreted the lyrics of a song in just-released "Billu" and reacted.

"I got scared. I got worried about my children and wife, but they are fine. I don't think there is any place safer than my home. I'm in London for a check up. I will be back home the day after tomorrow," Shah Rukh told a TV channel over phone from London.

Clarifying the confusion about the lyrics, the actor said: "They thought we are referring to the Prophet in the song. But it has been sorted out. They have seen the film and now it’s clear to them that the lyrics weren't referring to the Prophet."

A burning kerosene bottle had been thrown in the premises of his sea facing house Mannat early in the morning.

According to an officer of Bandra Police station, two men came to Shah Rukh's bungalow, at Bandra Bandstand around 2.30 a.m. They lit a bottle full of kerosene and flung it over the gates before fleeing. The security guards were caught unawares, the police said.

The police said a case was registered and they are searching for the culprits.

There was no damage to property as the flaming missile landed in the garden.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh will ask you to "wish more" with Dish TV as the company has decided to retain the actor as its brand ambassador for another 18 months.

The company had first tied up with Shah Rukh in 2007.

"Shah Rukh is the undisputed king of Bollywood - the best in his field. He is someone who personifies style, entertainment and popularity and these values resonate perfectly with our brand attributes as well," said Salil Kapoor, COO, Dish TV.

While Dish TV, direct-to-home (DTH) service provider, has renewed its contract with the actor, media reports indicate that soft drink giant Pepsico has decided to drop him as their brand ambassador and find a new face.

Gossip - Govinda is Superstitious

·

Bollywood Stars News

Govinda is known for his quirky, superstitious behaviour. The victim of the latest incident was Tigamanshu Dhulia, the director of his upcoming film “Showman”.

The story goes like this: While Govinda was listening to the lyrics of one of the songs, he got a call saying that his best friend Salman Khan had lost his dog.

Subsequently Govinda got very upset, so much so that not only did the incident sadden him but also made him superstitious about the song.

He reportedly asked the director to change its lyrics. He said that when only listening to the lines could bring such bad news, what would the picturisation bring?

He left the director with no option but to change the lyrics, which Tigamanshu did.

New Sanjay Dutt is Disturbing Neighours

·

Indian Celebrity News

Recently, the cops turned up at Preity Zinta and Hrithik Roshan's birthday parties after getting complaints from the neighbourhood. And it was Sanjay Dutt's neighbours’ turn to complain on Wednesday (Feb 10) night when he was celebrating his first wedding anniversary.

Apparently it was not the music that disturbed the neighbours but the media that was crowded outside the building that was a concern for them.

Many A-listers from Bollywood came for the anniversary bash so obviously the media wanted to capture as much as they could. So they turned up in a large number at Sanjay’s building.

Finally, a lady resident came out and started firing the media for disturbing her and told them to go away.

Sanjay quickly came out of the party, went to the lady's house and calmed her down.

The lawyer lady was apparently overwhelmed by this personal gesture by Sanjay. So the cops were given rest and the party continued without any disturbances.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt’s close friend-turned-enemy, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, lost his beloved mother Nirmala Devi Gupta on Tuesday (Feb 9) morning.

Many people turned up to pay their last respects to the lady and offer their condolences to Gupta. But one person missing was Sanjay Dutt. He did not attend the funeral and only sent his condolences via a text message.

Dutt is being accused of forgetting his friendship of 25 years and not being by Gupta's side during this sad time of his life. Instead he was preparing for his first anniversary bash. Gupta's mother was incidentally very fond of Sanjay Dutt.

It seems Sanjay Dutt is fast forgetting the people who were with him during his worst times, the closest being his sisters Priya and Namrata who were not even invited for the anniversary bash.

The shooting of Salman Khan's "Veer" was put on hold on Friday (Feb 13) by the Rajasthan High Court, a day after several people were injured when a portion of a wall at the historic Amer Fort collapsed during filming.

The Jaipur bench of the court has issued notice to the state government to explain why norms related to protected historical monuments were not followed and asked it to reply by March 3.

On Thursday, an enthusiastic crowd of over 200 fans stood on the wall to watch the shooting of the film. Suddenly, while a swayamvar (wedding) scene was being shot, the wall collapsed, injuring 15, including two television cameramen.

"A 20 feet long wall in the Amber fort campus collapsed at around 3.10 p.m. due to pressure exerted by hundreds of spectators, some of whom were standing on it. The fans became over enthusiastic once Salman appeared," a police official told IANS.

Salman went to the meet the injured in hospital on Thursday evening.

When asked about the accident, Vijay Galani, the film's producer, said: "There is false news that fans died under the wall. It was only a parapet and that too at some distance from the fort. The high court has as of now only put a hold on the shooting and demanded clarifications."

Set around 1800 AD, "Veer" is a period drama with Salman in the title role. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film has been written by Salman and his father Salim Khan.

The cast and the crew are here to shoot important action sequences across Jaipur, Bikaner and other locations in Rajasthan. They have a schedule of 50 days.

News Fatima Bhutto Dating With George Clooney

·

Celebrity News

Hollywood heartthrob said to be uncharacteristically serious about Fatima. George Clooney, one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors, is said to be dating slain Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto's niece Fatima Bhutto.

But the film star says his heartthrob days could be coming to an end if the 26-year-old poet-journalist wants to take the relationship to the next level and spend some serious time with him in the US, Pakistani newspaper The Nation reported on Wednesday (Feb 11) quoting The National Enquirer.

"He's still out there with his usual assortment of Hollywood eye-candy hanging from his arm. But George insists those days could be coming to an end if Fatima wants to take their relationship to the next level and spend some serious time with him in the US," a source said.

"Tricky long distance, Pakistan-to-US dating logistics aside, we think the two would make a nice couple. I mean, just look at her CV. She's a far cry from Clooney's last girlfriend, the 'Fear Factor' contestant, Sara Larson.

"Fatima Bhutto did her graduation in Middle Eastern studies from Barnard and a masters in South Asian Studies from University of London. So she's educated," added the source.

According to the newspaper, Clooney, 47, is also said to be uncharacteristically serious about her, especially considering how smart and independent she is.

Although Clooney has been able to keep the relationship under wraps, in private he is gushing to pals about the raven-haired Fatima, say insiders.

Clooney and Fatima met at an international conference last year and the film star quickly fell for her, revealed the source.

"Fatima was educated at Columbia University... and knew of his heartthrob reputation, but she didn't take his advances seriously because she thought their age difference - not to mention where they each lived - would make a serious relationship impractical. But Clooney has courted her by phone and e-mail and arranged to meet her abroad when their schedules allowed it."

News Sonam Kapoor Promotes Delhi 6

·

Indian Celebrity Goosip

Golgappas, chhole bhature and non-vegetarian delicacies from popular eatery Karim's - star kid Sonam Kapoor (pictured above) gorged on all this and more while shooting for her forthcoming film "Delhi-6" in New Delhi.

"I'm quite a foodie and have a very Punjabi taste in terms of food. So when we were shooting in Delhi for the film, I used to eat a lot of golgappas, chhole bhature, dahi bhalle and meat from Karim's. Basically, I used to eat all the wrong things, but I loved that," Sonam told IANS over telephone from Mumbai.

In Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's "Delhi-6", Sonam plays Bittu, an aspiring singer who lives in a conservative family in the crowded Chandni Chowk area and has a desire to break free from the typical Indian societal norms.

The one-film-old actress says a good amount of preparation went behind her character in the film in which she stars opposite Abhishek Bachchan.

"One has to really prepare for the role he or she is portraying in a film. For 'Delhi-6', I had to work on my accent, body language, clothes, my expressions, the way I walked and a lot of other nitty-gritty stuff," she said.

Apart from Sonam's carefree Indian looks in the film, her performance in the hit peppy number "Masakalli", picturised on her and a dove, has been really appreciated.

"'Masakalli' is a beautiful song by A.R. Rahman and beautifully choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant. Masakalli is the name of the dove in the film and it is very symbolic of my character. She nearly became my pet on the sets. She used to hop on to my head," said Sonam, who is actor Anil Kapoor's daughter.

Asked if she was a wee bit scared of the bird, she said: "I wasn't scared of Masakalli at all. She was just a small bird. How could it harm me?"

The song has become so popular that a lot of Sonam's friends have started calling her 'Masakalli' and she finds it "really sweet".

Talking of her co-star Abhishek, the actress says she had a "fabulous" time shooting with him.

"We share a great chemistry. He is young, but experienced enough and he guided me and helped me through scenes where I would get stuck. Besides, we had great fun on the sets.

"Every 10 days we used to have a dance party when we were shooting in Sambhar in Rajasthan. We used to have a DJ who used to play really bad Hindi songs from the 1980s and 90s and we used to dance all through the night," said Sonam.

Deepika show face on Mallya's Formula One Team

·

Indian Celebrity News

Industrialist Vijay Mallya, chairman of Force India Formula Team, has roped in actress Deepika Padukone to be the face of his team.

Deepika said, if she could manage time from her busy Bollywood schedule, she would love to be one of the team's 'speed divas' and travel around the world for the Formula One Grand Prix event 2009.

"I may make brief appearances during MTV's reality show, 'The Fast and the Gorgeous' and I'm looking forward to it," said Deepika as she sat on a McLaren-Mercedes-powered Formula One car to unveil MTV-Force India's The Fast and the Gorgeous hunt for the 'speed divas' in Mumbai on Tuesday (Feb 10).

Following a countrywide hunt four 'speed divas' will be chosen from 20 contestants to be the cheer girls/pit girls.

Deepika, daughter of badminton champion Prakash Padukone, loves sports and excelled in badminton in school.

Asked what is common between badminton and car racing, she said: "Speed".

Force India Formula One Team's maiden performance on the international race track last year was not up to the mark. "But to be qualified to take part in Formula One Grand Prix itself was no mean achievement," said Mallya.

Mallya, however, warned the Indian car race lovers not to expect "miracles" from the Force India Formula One Team during the prelims.

"The Grand Prix event from Barcelona onwards will be the real test for all the teams," he said.

Mallya, who took the initiative to put India on the international car racing track, said he will be a proud man when Force India Formula One Team will host the first Indian Grand Prix in 2011.

Ashish Patil, MTV India general manager and vice president (creative ad content), informed the media that the channel, which has always identified itself with the youth, is the right platform to popularise Formula One sport in India through its partnership with Force India Formula One Team for the reality show, "The Fast and the Gorgeous".

Indian Celebrity Gossip

Why is Abhay Deol not in Mumbai to savour the rave reviews his "Dev D" is getting? The actor is in New York and has decided to make the city his home. He has even signed up for a welding and metal work course there because he finds it therapeutic!

"I'm here in New York to stay. Right now I'm at a rented place. But I'm looking for a place to buy. It was very important for me to get away and do things other than acting. Yes, acting is my primary passion. But there's so much more to do in life," Abhay told IANS over phone from New York.

So now onwards he'll be travelling between New York and Mumbai.

"It's not as easy as it sounds. Travelling back and forth will take a lot of time and money. And it was a hard decision to take. But I needed to get away. In Mumbai, I was getting caught in a rut," Abhay said.

At the moment he is doing a course in welding and metal work at the Arts Students League of New York. Never heard of an actor doing a course in metal work before!

"Why not?" Abhay shoots back. "Melting metal at 60,000 degrees fahrenheit is very therapeutic. It's as cathartic as living out the anguish of 'Dev D'. I was planning to take this time off too explore new territories for some time. But in Mumbai I was caught up in the never-ending chain of doing movies and promoting them.

"I thought I would finish this routine and then take time off. But it never happened. So I just took off after completing 'Dev D'. Now I'm glad to hear the film has been so well-received. So what if I'm not in Mumbai? Friends back home are keeping me informed," he said.

Abhay has family, including his sister, in California and friends in New York.

The creative possibilities here are unlimited. I want to grow not just as an actor but also as a human being," he said.

Abhay will be returning to Mumbai for a new crop of assignments as and when they happen. These include Anil Kapoor's home production with Sonam Kapoor, a new film with Dibakar Banerjee of "Khosla Ka Ghosla" fame and the directorial debut of Vikramaditya Motwane, who co-scripted "Dev D".

The actor, who was launched by his uncle Dharmendra with "Socha Na Tha" in 2005, has featured in films like "Ahista Ahista", "Manorama Six Feet Under", "Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd" and "Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!" But Anurag Kashyap's "Dev D" is his first big hit.

He teamed up with two newcomers - Kalki Koechlin and Mahi Gill - in the film, which is a modern take on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's classic novel "Devdas".

Abhay is thrilled about the triumph of "Dev D".

"We worked hard on the film. And now when I hear such good things being said about it, I feel all the labour has paid off."
